Supplier Diversity Training
Supplier Diversity means having diverse suppliers, or a diverse supply base.
Diverse suppliers are recognised as businesses that are majority owned by a minority group. These groups usually refer to people of colour, such as African American, Hispanic, Asian, and minority or under-represented groups such as LGBTIQ, women, or disabled people.
Supplier Diversity in an Australian context refers to buying from Indigenous businesses, or Indigenous procurement. Its intent is to overcome disadvantage and close the gap through Indigenous economic development. Spend with Indigenous businesses creates wealth and jobs, which are fundamental to a range of other outcomes such as health, well-being and community.
Supplier diversity in Australia is designed to level the playing field for Indigenous businesses. This means opening up opportunities that wouldn’t ordinarily be available, and competing for business opportunities on equal terms. It isn’t a hand out, but a hand up. It is not designed to discriminate positively in favour of Indigenous businesses, but rather support Indigenous economic development. Growing Indigenous businesses provides both economic and social returns. Economic development has a positive impact on Indigenous people.

Completing this workshop will give participants:
